It operates on PHP 8.3 or higher and is compatible with MySQL or MariaDB; even standard shared hosting is sufficient, and there's no need for SSH, Composer, or Cron. The installation process includes a server compatibility check prior to setup.
Updates are delivered as signed packages, with an initial backup performed; if any issues arise during the update, the process can be reversed. Users can manage products, including variants, stock levels, SKUs, and VAT calculations, all from a unified admin panel, which features an AI assistant to help generate product descriptions (note that provider fees are additional).

Backup data moves directly from the client to a storage target the customer controls - Amazon S3, Azure Blob, Google Cloud Storage, Wasabi, any S3-compatible endpoint, a NAS or local disk. Encryption is applied before data leaves the source under a zero-knowledge key model, and immutable retention is enforced through S3 Object Lock, GCS Object Lock or ZFS snapshots.
The platform covers 30+ workload types from one console: hypervisors, physical servers, databases, Microsoft 365, NAS appliances and user endpoints.
Zmanda Pro is licensed per protected machine rather than by data volume, and air-gapped deployment is software-only with no appliance requirement.
