Description
LightCraft serves as an open-source library and RAW editor tailored for photographers seeking to manage and enhance their images on a local level. The software allows users to organize their photos into albums and folders while providing features for ratings, flags, metadata searching, sorting, and detecting duplicates. It includes non-destructive editing tools that facilitate exposure, tone and color adjustments, cropping, geometry changes, applying presets, converting to black and white, and utilizing local masks. Supporting a wide range of camera RAW formats and standard image types, it enables exports in JPEG, PNG, TIFF, WebP, and DNG formats. Users can easily compare edits, synchronize settings across multiple selected photos, and design contact sheets for their work. LightCraft is compatible with macOS, Windows, and Linux systems, and it also offers a self-hosted WebAssembly build. Additionally, it features a command-line interface, a JSON control channel, and an MCP server for enhanced automation capabilities. Notably, all the library's data is stored locally, eliminating the need for user accounts or cloud services, thus ensuring complete data privacy and control.
Description
Shotwell is compatible with a variety of photo formats including JPEG, PNG, TIFF, BMP, GIF, WebP, and RAW files. However, its support for RAW formats is somewhat restricted, as viewing a RAW image actually presents a JPEG version derived from the original RAW file rather than the RAW image itself. Furthermore, the editing capabilities for RAW files are not fully 16-bit, limiting exports to 8-bit file formats. Users can export most supported formats, including JPEG, PNG, TIFF, and BMP. The Basic Information pane can be found at the bottom of the sidebar, providing a concise overview of the selected photos, while if no photos are highlighted, it gives a summary of the whole collection. You can easily toggle this pane's visibility through the information command. Additionally, the map pane is integrated into the Basic Information section, offering a visual summary of the photos you’ve chosen; if there are no selections, it will showcase an overview of the entire collection. This feature enhances the user experience by allowing for quick navigation and better organization of photos.
