When you open a PDF file, Lex Cloak performs a thorough scan of the entire document, utilizing OCR technology to detect various sensitive information such as Social Security numbers, birth dates, names, addresses, phone numbers, account numbers, medical record identifiers, and other personal details. Additionally, it can uncover hidden text that may not be visible, such as white font or words obscured by black boxes. The software allows you to customize the scanning process by using profiles tailored for different types of documents, including medical records, legal filings, public records, educational documents, and forensic reports, which dictate what information is targeted during the scan.
After the scanning process, users can review each identified match and make decisions about what information to redact. Lex Cloak permanently removes the actual text from the document, rather than just altering the visible pixels, and produces a new PDF that reflects these changes.
