Description
Web applications and the malware associated with them are emerging as significant vulnerabilities in corporate security frameworks. To mitigate the risks posed by potential cyber threats, organizations must implement a reliable web application scanning solution capable of identifying security weaknesses in their web-based applications. This proactive approach is essential to thwart unauthorized access attempts and to prevent the injection of malicious files and malware. GamaSec offers a web application scanner designed to safeguard applications and servers from cybercriminals; this automated security tool meticulously searches for software vulnerabilities within web applications. The scanner systematically crawls the entire website, conducts a thorough analysis of each file, and presents a complete overview of the website's structure. In addition, it performs automatic audits for prevalent security vulnerabilities and simulates various web attacks to assess the system's defenses. By regularly utilizing such tools, organizations can enhance their security posture and reduce the likelihood of successful attacks.
Description
WPSniffer is a free and open-source command-line tool designed to scan for malware specifically targeting WordPress and other PHP-based websites. It operates by scanning files on the host system where it is installed, utilizing YARA-X along with rule packages from the community YARA Forge to identify potentially harmful code, including webshells. Users have the option to utilize predefined rules or create their own .yar/.yara files, and they can select from core, extended, or comprehensive rule sets while also having the capability to pin specific rule releases for consistent scanning results. This Python-based package scans designated paths, allows input from standard sources, supports various filtering options, and can be integrated into scheduled jobs or continuous integration workflows. To facilitate larger scans, features such as caching, file-size restrictions, and timeouts for individual files are incorporated. The results of the scans can be generated in easily understandable formats, including CSV or TSV, allowing users to select specific columns and even opt for email delivery of reports. WPSniffer is particularly valuable for administrators, developers, hosting providers, and security teams engaged in the investigation of compromised websites or in the routine examination of server files for malware presence. Importantly, all scans are performed locally, ensuring that files remain on the host system without being transmitted to any external services. Additionally, users can customize the scanning process to fit their unique needs, making it a flexible tool for maintaining site security.
