Description

Carlson iCAD is an economical CAD solution compatible with both .dwg and .dgn file formats, seamlessly integrating into your production workflow. This software enables drafters to complete their drawings while providing engineers with the tools to review them effectively. Some of its key features include the ability to move, copy, erase, offset, and trim various elements, as well as smooth, reduce, reverse, and edit polylines. Users can also create polylines from existing lines and arcs, enhancing flexibility in design. Additionally, Carlson iCAD boasts a 3D viewer window that allows for a three-dimensional display of drawing elements, complete with adjustable lighting settings. The program also enables users to set the rotation for plan displays and provides tooltips with property details when hovering the cursor over entities. With a customizable user interface, Carlson iCAD offers control over ribbons, menus, and workspaces, making it adaptable to user preferences. Furthermore, it includes commands specifically for labeling areas defined by linework boundaries, ensuring precise documentation of designs. This comprehensive feature set makes Carlson iCAD a valuable tool for both drafters and engineers alike.

Description

I often encountered issues where the STL files I downloaded required minor modifications to be compatible with my 3D printer. Usually, this involved simply centering the model on the build platform or resizing it to fit. A few months ago, I developed OpenGL code to visualize both STL and GCode files for a different extensive project, which proved useful. Additionally, I faced challenges when trying to open ASCII-encoded STL files in my 3D/CAD application, which only supports binary STL files, prompting the need for a straightforward conversion method. To address these challenges, I created Pleasant3D, a compact utility designed to resolve these issues while incorporating my earlier visualization code for STL and GCode files. This latest version enhances the error checking within the Quicklook plugins and ensures that if Quicklook generation fails, the standard document icon is shown, preventing quicklookd from crashing during error occurrences. With these improvements, users can now expect a smoother and more reliable experience when handling their 3D printing files.
