Best price-quality ratio Date: Oct 25 2024
Summary: The software delivers great functionality at an affordable price, making it a good choice for G&G specialists. It’s a balance of technical features and cost-effectiveness. The support team is also top-notch - friendly, quick to respond, and open to adding new features based on user feedback. They make sure any issues are resolved fast, so you always feel supported and heard. Overall, it’s a tool that keeps getting better and delivers real value for the money.
Positive: The software offers clear and user-friendly functionality, with workflows designed natively and intuitively, avoiding an overwhelming number of unnecessary settings. Corrections for 2D misties are calculated efficiently, and the process of tying wells to seismic data is straightforward. I particularly appreciate the geological modeling workflow and the reserves calculation tool.
Negative: At first, the interface might feel a bit different, so it takes a little getting used to. But once you get the hang of it, everything is pretty easy and quick to use. I think it would be great if they could tweak some of the visual settings to make it even better!

Good seismic interpretation software Edited: Oct 23 2024
Summary: g-Space is an excellent software for seismic interpretation, capable of supporting exploration on a basin-wide scale. It allows multi-user collaboration and can store all data in PostgreSQL. I’m giving it a 5-star rating because it’s definitely worth it.
Positive: - Load seismic data with any datum parameters and export with precise datum
- Straight forward process of 2D seismic mis-tie
- Construct velocity models using sequence boundaries (SB).
- Interactive well-tie
- Nice well log correlation
- Volume calculation: ability to get distribution of the values.
- Supports importing and exporting maps in shapefile format.
- Enables robust data management with PostgreSQL.Negative: - Limited in data plotting

Best value for the price Date: Nov 01 2024
Summary: I used Petrel, Kingdom, and Hampson-Russell before. Now, as an independent consultant, I find g-Space to be the best value for the price. It’s affordable, works well on a standard laptop, and provides almost all the essential tools needed for seismic and geological interpretation.
What really impressed me was their R&D team. When I requested new features (like a seismic relief attribute and some mapping tools), they delivered them in just two weeks—something I never expected from seismic software market.
I’m also looking forward to the upcoming acoustic inversion feature next year!Positive: Fast and efficient
Easy well tie
Lots of useful attributes
Various velocity modeling options
AVO and gather conditioning toolsNegative: UI takes some time to get used to
