Waterfox Description

Navigating the internet can be done seamlessly with a focus on both privacy and usability. We strive to collect only the essential information necessary for optimal performance. Your online activities and browsing habits remain your own concern; we respect that boundary. Waterfox is compatible with the Chrome Web Store, the Opera Web Store, and the Firefox Store, offering the most extensive extension support among browsers. Each user has their own unique browsing preferences. As one of the pioneering 64-bit browsers, Waterfox quickly garnered a dedicated user base. Initially, the primary goal of Waterfox was to enhance speed; however, it has evolved into a browser that prioritizes ethical standards and user-centric design. It emphasizes a harmonious balance between privacy and usability, recognizing that an excessive emphasis on privacy might render the web unusable, while a neglect of it could lead to privacy breaches. With Waterfox, users can feel assured that their online activities remain confidential and are not shared with others. This commitment to user privacy is fundamental to the browser’s philosophy.

    GOODBYE WATERFOX

    Date: Nov 06 2024

Summary: Excellent until it stopped win 7 support!
From that moment onwards I deleted it, because it said there would be no updates.

Positive: Everything was very good, because I was also familiar with Firefox, I only needed a reserve browser, which was more then suitable. All extensions and add-ons working with fire-, were also compatible with the water-... most of all the download helper, and the several different add-blockers.

Negative: NO cons, except that it stopped supporting Windows 7. I know it by heart, I am 60 and DO NOT intend learning new windows, adapting applications, looking for alternatives, add-ons patches etc etc. ONLY because it would not support win 7 anymore I deleted it completely, yesterday. I found several equally good alternatives supporting win 7, full force, similar as w-fox used to.

    Waterfox Performance

    Date: Dec 26 2021

Summary: I have been using Waterfox for a couple of months now and Waterfox is definitely ahead of Firefox in performance, leaving me very impressed!

Positive: I have been using Waterfox for a couple of months now and Waterfox is definitely ahead of Firefox in performance. I can honestly say i haven't had any hiccups with Waterfox whatsoever. Id confidently say Waterfox is almost twice as fast as Firefox. I don't know what the standards are in security for Waterfox though.

Negative: Waterfox default browser is Bing. That is my only complaint.

    Terrible waste of time

    Date: Mar 09 2025

Summary: Very poor and totally useless if it can't work as a alt browser that is supposed to replace a modern browser, pitiful.

Positive: It isn't Firefox, made by people that are dreamers, in short a miracle they are still in a job really.

Negative: it can't display pictures, needs major work to fix its brittle engine, it is slow, over promises and under delivers, suffers that same issues as its parent, a complicated hidden settings method and threadbare features, it's poorly made with careless design and no real quality.
