So many contests, not a lot of real content! Date: Aug 08 2022
Summary: The concept is really fascinating, I was actually excited to join, because I used to blog a few years ago. So I thought it is a great opportunity to get back to writing and conversing with people, while making some money. However, after browsing through the blogs, it felt like nobody really cares about creating thoughtful content, communities create meaningless contests, just to promote the group and inundate the feed with their posts. The only really informative content almost always about crypto. The couple of bloggers that I found that create thoughtful content get buried underneath the load of awful diary like and click bate posts. There is no real conversation going on and everyone just mass produces to make more money.
Positive: It is free and you have access to members easily. It is easy to connect and converse with other people.
Negative: There is not so much content blogging. Real content is scarce. Restricting your preferred language does not restrict the posts you get in your feed, which is quite annoying.

My Views on Steemit Date: Apr 27 2022
Summary: Generally I think Steemit is a great Society that encourages peer to peer relations in a secure model.
Positive: Firstly, I like the fact that it is easy to understand with easy steps in the set up. I also like the straight forward verification systems.
Steemit Incentives are pretty nice.
I love the active community of the Steemit platform, they are very active and friendly.Negative: No themes integration yet. We should be able to change the themes set up in our profiles. I believes it's going to improve the feel and it's appeal to the eyes.

Blockchain based social media Date: Mar 30 2022
Summary: SteemIt is the original of the three blockchains which has forked from Steem and shares many functionality with its peers.
All SteemIt blog posts are stored on a public ledger and can't be deleted. This is something to consider when using SteemIt.
SteemIt postings are monetised based on the upvotes received. However can be hard for new users to get enough upvotes to pass the 2ç minimum payout threshold.
The blockchain supports user defined token which can be used by communities to add additional incentives and communities for many interests have been created.Positive: • Content is kept on the blockchain can't be deleted.
• Own cryptocurrency with no transaction fees.
• Community driven through elected witnesses.
• Markdown support to create feature rich blog postings.
• Monetisation though cryptocurrency.
• Support for Groups/Community/Tribes support
• API for automation.
• Multiple user interfaces possible.
• Open Source.Negative: • Content can still be hidden in the user interface.

Lack of tolerance and lack of applications Date: May 20 2022
Summary: Overall, my experience was negative. Filled with flag wars an having witnessed a lot of people that had a lot of money stolen. I'd recommend avoiding this chain.
Positive: I liked the idea behind it. It was designed with the right concept in mind. Unfortunately, an early ninja mine limited it, but other than that, it was an interesting project before it became centralized.
Negative: - It is a centralized platform and if you are critical of it they will take over your account. When they do this, they have no qualms about stealing the contents of your wallet.

- They have very limited development going on. -

Completely Fake "Decentralization" Date: Apr 27 2022
Summary: The platform itself isn't terrible, but with it being controlled by a single person who uses that power to take funds from users, it just cannot be recommended as "decentralized" social media.
Positive: Good foundational software and transaction transparency. There are a handful of very helpful and nice users.
Negative: The platform is actually controlled by a single person. They've even gone so far as to remove balances from account wallets.

No freedom at all Date: Apr 27 2022
Summary: You want to have your own blog and be successful as a writer? Join Hive. Steemit is almost dead. There’s nothing fruitful from this place.
Positive: At first, I loved this place… till I got to know and be aware of the huge corruption that’s behind it.
Negative: You’re told that “you will win crypto will writing”… well, turns out they encourage you to power 100% of what you receive. There’s no freedom to do anything in there, just a bunch of “favorite users” get voted and the administration is a complete disaster.

Steemit was taken over by Justin Sun and the TRON Foundation. Edited: Apr 26 2022
Summary: Steemit is now a Centralized Blogging Platform under the Control of Justin Sun and the TRON Foundation. Steemit forked to Hive and this is where everyone moved.
Positive: Steemit was the creation of Ned and Dan and was a once a good place to Blog until Justin Sun took it over.
You could earn Steem and TRON coins from blogging.Negative: Steemit was taken over by Justin Sun and TRON. It is no longer a Decentralized platform and should not be on this list.

A sad shadow of what could have been Date: Apr 11 2022
Summary: The fall in price shows what people think of it. Hive is the new Steem. Go there for freedom. You might make something on Steemit, but you will have to compromise your integrity to do so.
Positive: I guess it still has a community of some form. I was there in the early days and it was good for a while, but the takeover by Justin Sun of Tron was hostile and he controls the witnesses now.
Negative: Not really decentralised any more. The top witnesses are all loyal to Sun and you have to suck up to get big votes. My account with thousands of posts and comments got muted for criticising them. So much for free speech.

No discernible development in the last couple of years. Most dapps moved to Hive.
