QStart Description
We have made the decision to offer our introductory QStart teleprompter software for free download, allowing everyone to enjoy the advantages of using an Autocue teleprompter. QStart serves as the basic teleprompting software from Autocue, with more advanced options like QPro and QMaster available for users with more intricate needs. The software enables you to import scripts from various formats such as word documents or text files, or you can directly input your text into the application itself. Users can format their scripts using familiar Windows features, including options for different fonts, sizes, colors, text alignment, and basic markers. Additionally, you can enhance your experience with a wired or wireless hand or foot control to manage the speed or movement of the script, or you can easily use your mouse or keyboard connected to the computer for this purpose. One of QStart's standout features is its dual-screen capability, which allows the script to be flipped so that it displays correctly for the presenter on the teleprompter while also being visible on the PC monitor. This combination of features ensures that users have a seamless and effective teleprompting experience.

Simple, effective, clunky Date: Feb 08 2022
Summary: It works, it's free, it could be better. There's no more development on it. You can have a good production with it, but it takes some trial and error to learn the nuances of the settings. It isn't always straight forward.
Positive: Easy to load text in, colour, font options are good. Custom commands for quickly moving around the script are easy to create and reliable.
Negative: The layout of the settings doesn't make it easy to quickly find what you want to change to change it. You need to work with it a few times on site to learn which involves holding up production possibly even a few minutes.

Settings saving are hit or miss. You set up the entire program to your liking, move to a different site, only to find you have to do it all over again.
On extended display, the prompter scrolls smoothly but the operator display is jittery and you don't know if you're actually doing a good job a lot of the time. This is true even for powerful computers.
