QR.io Description
Using QR.io allows you to monitor the number of scans on your QR Codes, including details about the scanning location and date. Additionally, users without coding skills can easily design personalized landing pages for their QR Codes, making it accessible for everyone. While both types of QR Codes serve a similar purpose, they differ significantly in terms of updates, statistics, and tracking capabilities. With Dynamic QR Codes, you can craft a landing page that can be modified and updated at any time, even after the QR Code has been created and made public. Moreover, Dynamic QR Codes provide valuable insights into scan statistics, revealing how many people engaged with your codes, where the scans took place, and when they occurred. This type of QR Code is particularly favored by business owners in various sectors such as restaurants, gyms, clothing stores, as well as artists, influencers, and individuals without technical backgrounds. In contrast, Static QR Codes lack the flexibility for changes or updates after they have been generated and shared publicly, and they do not offer any tracking information about the scans that occur. Thus, the choice between Dynamic and Static QR Codes can significantly impact how effectively you engage with your audience.

They are a scam Date: May 06 2025
Summary: A victim of their extortion. They offer a QR code, that is actually a link to their own site, which they forward to your own site. It allows them to generate some statistics about people who scan the code.
But, they don't really notify you that their so-called "free" code is going to revert to a service you must pay $35/month to have active. (it may be hidden somewhere) For us, and many others, their notification of this is only after you have already distributed materials with the QR code they control. No amount of features are worth supporting this company.Positive: While some of their services sound good, and it was nice to see how many people used the QR code they created. But, the way they operate is actually extortion.
Negative: The Non-Profit company I volunteer for is yet another victim of their scam. They hide the true cost of their "free" QR code, and then they try to extort a monthly payment after you have distributed material that uses the QR code. Failure to pay results in a deactivated QR code.

We had to submit to their extortion for a month, to keep the flyers we already distributed working for that time. Now I am also considering if we should get a different credit card, to avoid them using it fraudulently for other purposes. The is good reason to not trust them with this information. -

QR.io is a total scam ... don't go there Date: Mar 23 2025
Summary: I was suckered by this total scam. You create what they call "free" QR codes and about the time you get them printed up in your literature, they disable the codes and demand a high subscription price to re-enable them.
Positive: What they advertised (free QR codes) sounded good. It was relatively easy to create them. But using them was another matter.
Negative: The "free" QR codes you create expire after a short period of time (just long enough for you to print them up in your promotional literature) and they demand a high "subscription" price (which you aren't told up front) to make them work again.

$120 for 1 QR Code. Date: Mar 18 2025
Summary: Beware of this company. They make it weird to cancel, as well. You have to select an option to continue your "subscription", which you never agreed to before getting to a place where you can cancel.
Positive: Somehow, I wound up paying $102.00 to use 1 free qr code. The upcharge was for multiple uses. How can they charge the $2 and then charge me for a subscription? This is about a sketchy as it comes. If you are going to sign me up for a subscription, don't upcharge me for something I will already be paying for. They are scammers.
I cannot locate 1 single email confirmation nor receipt in my email. Not 1 notification that they were charging my card.Negative: They are criminals and charged me without any notification at all.

This company is a fraud Date: Feb 20 2025
Summary: This company is a fraud. They do not make it clear on their website that the "free" QR code you generate with them will only work during a trial period. After that time, you get a message saying "Paused: You need to choose a plan to reactivate this QR code." And they you are supposed to fork over $35 per MONTH. Unfortunately, I used the QR code on printed flyers which are now useless. Several attempts to contact customer service via email asking for a solution received no answer. In the end, I had to reprint the flyers using a different QR code. Save yourself the headache and stay away from this company!
Positive: Easy to use. You can set colors, design, background, etc. But that is about it. Nothing else to recommend. See the big drawbacks below.
Negative: It is NOT free! They do not make it clear on their website that the "free" QR code you generate with them will only work during a trial period.

Fraud Date: Nov 02 2024
Summary: Awful!! As I said before it's a scam to get your cc number and keep you charging for something you didn't ask for.
Positive: There's Nothing good about this company! It's a scam! Stay away from them if you don't want to loose your time and money.
Negative: It's a fraud!! My team have generated 2 QR Codes in July/August because they make it look like it's free. Then realized it wasn't, but the QR Codes were printed and we needed a few days to sort it out. We had to buy 2 different plans, with the promise that we could cancel up to 7 days. We did it. They charged this 2 accounts and invented another 3rd account to charge for. They said the 2 accounts were canceled, but are still charging us for a 3rd account, and haven't refunded anything! Take care and stay away from them. I'll have to cancel my cc because of them!

Business practice built on tricking users!!!!!! Date: Aug 13 2024
Summary: An absolutely despicable business which makes money by tricking it's users.
QR.io does not mention anywhere during the creation of QR codes that it's only valid for a certain amount of time. The company tricks you into thinking it's free so you create the QR code, and then create hundreds or thousands of business cards, or in my case, wedding invitations, which are then rendered useless a couple weeks later when the QR code is deactivated unless you pay a MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION OF $35!!!
Are you kidding me??? Now my guests can't RSVP unless I pay a monthly subscription!
I'm now stuck having a stack of useless wedding invitations, that have already been sent out to guests, unless I pay $35 a month, which was never stated to me during the creation of the QR codes.
This is absolutely absurd and this business needs to either make some changes in their practices or be shut down. This is unbelievably deceptive and there is no way this is legal.Positive: Pretty QR Codes. That's it.
Negative: An absolutely despicable business which makes money by tricking it's users.

Buyer Beware Date: Jul 24 2024
Summary: They do not have a customer support number. Buyer beware.
Positive: None.
Negative: I signed up for the QR code service mid 2022. I canceled my subscription in November of 2022. I am still being charged for this service and the "company" has refused to refund their erroneous charges, even after providing proof of cancellation, and has stopped replying to my email.

Total Scam Date: Jun 11 2024
Summary: Do not trust QR.io. There is nothing positive I can say about them. Avoid at all costs - there are numerous better alternatives.
Positive: Easy to create a QR in the colors and design you want but that's it. Total scam afterwards and no other pros.
Negative: Force you to pay $35 even for a single QR code

Does not indicate clearly the difference between static and dynamic QR codes and by default creates a dynamic code which redirects though their domain. To keep this one active, you need to pay after 7 days

Summary: Pure garbage, I was just scammed out of my money after fake advertising and fake promises.
They should be sued into hell.Positive: The 7 days I thought this was free.
