Printix - top notch printer management

    Date: Apr 08 2022

Summary: As far as we have come with computers, mobile devices and servers it amazes me that the process of deploying and managing printers is still very archaic. Ask any IT person and I'll bet dealing with printers is at the bottom of their favorite thing to do list.

Printix exists to add some sanity to the process and even extend the functionality with secure remote printing and server-less management. It is absolutely a game changer in dealing with printers and worth the investment as it will save you many printer management headaches!

Positive: Printix manages your organization's printers with ease. While there are a lot of competing products I have tried, none match the simplicity and functionality of Printix.

Adding printers works well while eliminating print servers and the hassle associated with them. We use the Azure integration which makes deploying the Printix client a snap and I have used the Google integration which works equally as well.

I love how Printix manages printer drivers for all platforms and it does a tremendous job of connecting users and groups to the printers they are supposed to have access to.

Negative: Printix can be a little tricky to configure as you need to create networks, printer devices, print queues, users and groups. It's worth spending some time prior to using the software to plan out your naming conventions, access permissions and drivers needed.
