Summary: PRTG Network Monitor is a powerful and comprehensive network monitoring tool that can help organizations monitor and manage their network performance effectively. While it has some limitations, its wide range of features and intuitive user interface make it a strong option for anyone looking to implement comprehensive network monitoring. Therefore, I would recommend PRTG Network Monitor to any organization looking for a robust network monitoring solution.

Positive: PRTG Network Monitor is a feature-rich network monitoring tool that can monitor a wide range of devices and network components, making it a valuable tool for network administrators and IT professionals. The tool's user interface is intuitive and easy to use, allowing users to quickly set up and configure network monitoring. Additionally, PRTG Network Monitor offers advanced features such as custom sensors and thresholds, which can help users customize their monitoring to suit their specific needs. The tool also includes useful reporting and alerting features, which can help users quickly identify and troubleshoot network issues.

    Good, but not great

    Date: Dec 30 2020

Summary: As someone who has only tried the software, not a habitual user of it for several months, I'm not that impressed. I'm sure it's good at what it does, but I'm just not finding a good spot for it in my tool box.

Positive: It is a very thorough network scanner, and gives you tons of information about every device it scans.

Negative: Not the most intuitive interface. Same device may show up in several different places based on how it categorizes it, and there doesn't appear to be an easy way to hide it from the redundant sections or move it to just one of them. We use certain IP address ranges for certain job functions and it was more difficult than necessary to basically draw fences around the ones I thought should be grouped. Also, this thing is slow. Advanced IP scanner takes about 3 minutes to scan the network and provide quite a bit of information. PRTG ran for 3 days and I still don't know if it was done.
