PAVE Description

PAVE enables users to make their PDF files accessible, ensuring compatibility with popular reading software while preserving the original visual layout of the documents. It is offered free for personal use, allowing for automatic corrections to be applied directly within the platform. Users can also manually implement any additional suggested changes to enhance accessibility. The PDFs will remain on PAVE's server for up to three weeks unless deleted by the user earlier. Although PAVE strives for accuracy, there is a possibility that processing might result in some alterations to the document's content or appearance, making it essential for users to verify the output. The ZHAW disclaims any liability for these changes. Previously, the ICT accessibility lab had developed plugins aimed at converting MS Word and MS PowerPoint files into accessible PDFs, but they did not address the accessibility of existing PDFs—a limitation that PAVE successfully addresses, thus providing a comprehensive solution. This innovation ensures that users can now enhance the accessibility of their previously created documents with ease and efficiency.
