No more manual SSH backups: Solid version control and "diff" tracking for multi-vendor switches

    Date: Feb 19 2026

Summary: It moved us away from manual SSH backups to a proper version-controlled system. It’s not as "fancy" as Ansible, but it’s much faster to deploy for a team that doesn't want to write YAML all day.

Positive: The "Configlet" feature is a massive time-saver for bulk ACL updates. I also love the "diff" view between startup and running configs; it caught a forgotten 'write mem' before a scheduled reboot.

Negative: The TFTP/SCP transfer can be finicky on older hardware, often timing out during large backups. Also, the compliance reports are a bit rigid; trying to build custom regex rules is quite a headache.

ManageEngine Network Configuration Manager- Device configuration made easy

    Date: Dec 27 2025

Summary: We are using the Network Configuration Manager for managing all our device and servers configurations. It easily integrates with the OpManager and dashboards helps in getting the required reports. Support for almost all vendors are avaliable like Fortinet, HPE, Juniper, Cisco and more.

Positive: 1. ManageEngine Network a multi‑vendor Network Configuration and Change Management tool for managing configurations, automation of backups, change tracking and compliance.
    2. Our network and infra teams are using it to centralize configuration control, reduce manual effort, and strengthen security in our organization.
    3. Real time change in configuration of network devices can be tracked and detected using this platform.

Negative: There are no dislikes for this platform. Alerting mechanism is great and notifications can be sent to required officials if there is a new configuration done or if there is change in configuration observed. This helps in identifying the user who had made the change and at times helps in identifying the threats to the organization.
