MYKI Description

MYKI offers a secure solution for password management by keeping your credentials stored locally instead of in the cloud. By utilizing MYKI, you can take charge of your digital identity and ensure that your sensitive information remains safe across all your devices. This offline password manager combines the robust security typically found in standalone applications with the user-friendly features of cloud-based systems. MYKI proficiently manages and synchronizes your data locally on devices that have the MYKI app installed, eliminating the risk of cloud breaches. Unlike traditional services, MYKI's approach makes it exceedingly challenging for cybercriminals to access your confidential information, as it does not rely on cloud storage. The app facilitates seamless peer-to-peer syncing between your devices, allowing you to keep your data updated without the need for a master password. Instead, you can quickly access MYKI using your fingerprint, Face ID, or a PIN code. Furthermore, MYKI offers the ability to securely store and automatically input your two-factor authentication tokens while you navigate online, ensuring both security and ease of use. This innovative approach to password management redefines convenience while prioritizing your security needs.

Summary: MYKI is an excellent password manager which can double as an authenticator. It works offline and stores passwords on your device, making it more secure. It is available free for personal use and has browser extensions as well as mobile app, making it a recommended choice.

    Positive: Slick interface
    Easy to setup and use
Available as browser extensions - use from any device
Works as as 2 FA Authenticator
    Works offline
    Secure with good privacy features
    Available free for personal use

Negative: It just works great as a offline password manager and authenticator and is a viable alternative for more popular tools like LastPass.

    Unreliable and unintuitive

    Date: Jul 28 2021

Summary: I have given Myki a good go, having used it as my main password manager for 5 months, however the number of small inconveniences that are present have led me to look for an alternative.

Positive: Browser extensions work well most of the time and the syncing across devices has been seamless. It definitely ticks the boxes for a password manager that is not storing data in the cloud. Having inbuilt 2FA has been helpful.

Negative: The first thing I noticed is that Myki is always there. It becomes quite intrusive when trying to use webforms and will occasionally recognise non-password fields as passwords. The various browser extensions and the Myki app are not always intuitive to navigate, and features seem to differ between versions. There are small quirks that just make it feel difficult to use, such as password lists always jumping back to the beginning when you go in and out of the browser extension for both your username and password.
