Lunacy Reviews

Summary: Kudos to the Lunacy team for making this software available for free. It's a high-quality professional app and runs smoothly on multiple OSes and devices. I have had a great experience overall but would love to see some raster editing/effects capabilities.

Positive: - Pen tool
- Multiple export options
- Support for multiple artboards
- Lots of options to generate filler text
- AI tools such as background remover
- Free

Negative: - No raster effects support
- Some features are obscure such as image masking

Summary: I have yet to delve into the program but it seems very modern and well done. Well integrated and focuses on the essentials but in a complete way.

Positive: I'm still studying the great tutorial but the program looks excellent. I have tried it on Windows and Linux.

Negative: It would be great for Android too. It would be possible to use with pencil.

Summary: A really cool tool for fast design with possibility to create good assets and export them into ico, svg, png, jpg.

Positive: Easy to use, Intuitive, Plenty of Resources
Easy to create assets with a huge library of icon and images.

Negative: In the last version running on Mac sometimes it use to crash.
Improve Collaboration on same file.

Summary: I'm really happy with Lunacy. So much incredible, and the best part that i've liked is how it's simple to make it. Me, as a student of mobile and web development, this helps a lot.

Positive: It's very easy to just open it and start to design without any difficulty.

Negative: None. I actually haven't had any trouble with Lunacy. It's just incredible.

Negative: Nothing. There is absolutely nothing I don't like in this application.

Summary: I am a Mac user and I am ABSOLUTELY blown-away by Lunacy.
I am in shock on how flawless the UI appears... crap even after a freeze quit? It jumped right back in.

And the freeze? Understandable... it was going online to 'number crunch' one of your online tools (remove background from an image). COMPLETELY understandable.

But the vector tools are why I'm here (not to mention that your add ons like the avatar generator, image enlarger, icon libraries, image libraries, yadda yadda yadda are ever so cool).

After years and years with Adobe's products (uggh) and having turned to a tool that just works for my vector work (Intaglio — yes Intaglio) I am delighted to have a tool that is the ALL-AROUND goto tool for everything I need:

Photo bitmaps, Line vectors, pixel perfect prototyping and so on.

Positive: Pretty much everything. Just read my sincere 'overall' review below. It offers a first person opinion, as a designer for over 25 years.

Negative: Not very much. I would like to find something significant to complain about but it really boils down to one's personal preferences, and in that regard, it's not consequential.

Summary: Pretty Decent Balanced alternate to Figma/Sketch/Adobe XD. Easy To Use even for a Noob Like me. I just casually need to design interfaces before making a site or app.

Positive: I used it in windows but ever since I moved to Linux, there was no easy to use solution like this. The notable pros are-

The Icon library is pretty much everything I need. Some premium icos are there since the publisher is icons8. Overall, great experience

Negative: A little more extensibility, like Figma, would go a long way.

Summary: I didn't get any problems after Figma and Sketch. It's very close to them, like a child.
Even my oldest laptop with AMD A-10 can be used as a host for Lunacy, it's really working.
I think there is one more problem: not enough guides about Lunacy. I think it's one of the biggest problems for beginners.

Positive: 1. One app for mac/win/linux
2. Low hardware usage
3. Freedom of seeking wifi / Cellular or sitting at home/office like a prisoner
4. Collaboration without counting seats
5. Sketch document type
6. Answering and fast support
7. It's all for free

Negative: 1. Plugins are temporarily unavailable.
2. Not all features I want are onboard.
3. Crashes sometimes, but not only this app showing such behavior.
4. Icons/illustrations list is shorter than on-site.

Summary: It's a nice concept.
Like I said everything ran smoothly.
I loved how smooth everything was, but I think there's need for improvement here and there.
But still we need more features.

For example, we can't animate in the software like adobe XD.
Also, allow for creating a location inside the app where all images user are stored so they can be reused.

Negative: I didn't like the fact that there wasn't a phone mockup of sort while I tried to make a ui for Android or other devices.

Summary: Very happy with Lunacy so far. I've yet to use advanced features like components but overall so far I'm more than satisfied.

Positive: Love the fact it's a native app. It performs better than Penpot and even Figma. Lots of features available for free!

Negative: Zooming in and out with the scroll wheel causes visual distortions.

Summary: I like the Linux Support, thanks for that.

Negative: More plugins.
Text to path.
Symmetric reflection.
Patterns.

Summary: Really fun to use, I find myself liking it and maybe I will use it full time from now. There's a lot of functionality that xd has and the dark theme is just a must.

Positive: - Easy to use
- A lot of cool functionality
- Many clever workflow
- it's free (from now :) )
- Dark theme

Negative: - there's no copy and paste in place. If there's it's not easy to find
- Unable to easy resize text like in xd

Summary: A great app, especially if you can't afford a Mac and you need to work with Sketch files.
Might need some polishing but overall very easy to use and bug free.

Positive: I like the fact that you can use it on Windows and the transition from Sketch to Lunacy is seamless.

Negative: The zoom command sometimes is sketchy, for example you press to zoom in and it zooms out to 10%.
Sometimes a file can't be opened.

Summary: • A lot of things are broken.
• Cannot Cmd + v inside an input
• The icons are not enough and the current are not that relevant.
• I saved a file in my cloud. when i reopened the objects were scattered all around the artboard some items like images, text were missing.
• Sometimes when you click on something it adjusts its position automatically

Positive: The addition of Icons, illustration and UI kit section makes it simple to add items while designing.

Negative: Kindly see the overall as regards the con of Lunacy.

Summary: It turned my face to Figma again. I will use my Freepik account to get illustrations and then manually embed them into Figma,

Positive: The illustrations and mockups can easily be embedded into your artwork. This is great if the app could work. I am disappointed every time I update the app.

Negative: Lots of bugs. The most basic functions can not be found. There is no information why some buttons are deactivated. Why couldn't I delete an artboard or an illustration?
