    Security flaws and performance issues

    Date: Sep 19 2020

Summary: If you are considering homeschool minder, please know it is a good application. But these are serious concerns that should be addressed.

    Positive: Decent calendar.
    Ability to enter lesson plans.
    Ability to copy lesson plans.

Negative: I wanted to like the application. I really did. But I cannot excuse the security issues and performance issues anymore. I sent an email to Stephanie on September 8th, where I asked her why my account was either hacked or logged into by an unauthorized person. Whoever it was entered a student and a test assignment. It really looked like an employee was testing something using my account. When I had first complained about this, mysteriously the student disappeared. It seems that Stephanie did not like me questioning her about this, and thus far has stopped answering my emails. In addition, last Sunday, the system was so slow, with constant time outs, that it took me several hours to complete a lesson plan. Before this, I emailed her about another security issue where sensitive data was being displayed on a page, meaning authentication tokens that are used to authenticate a user. This should never be done. I have included a screenshot of the mysterious student and assignment added to my account, but blacked out the names of my students for privacy.

I really like homeschool minder. But I cannot continue to use the application if there are serious security flaws and performance issues, and especially if they ignore the issue. I realize this may be a small operation, but I paid for the year, and deserve at least some answer, not to be ignored. I have cancelled my subscription, but based on what I have just detailed I believe I should get back the unused portion of my fee.
