Summary: It is simple, easy to use, and works well for group presentations. It saves to the cloud so that everyone can edit and keep track of the most recent changes.
Positive: It is so simple to jump in and create a solid presentation. There is a very small learning curve in comparison to other softwares, and a variety of great templates that make it easy to have beautiful presentations. I also love the collaborative aspect of slides, and have used it for many group presentations.
Negative: It can be a bit slow to update when multiple people are editing the slides at the same time, but it's a very minor problem. Other than that, it works well for what I need!

Google's answer to Powerpoint Edited: Nov 10 2020
Summary: Everything in Google and Microsoft's office suites are pretty reliable and can be interchangeable with each other if you keep track of your file types. Google Slides is a great, free replacement for Powerpoint if you don't want to pay for it and don't have access to an .edu email. I find students tend to prefer using the Google office suite products over Microsoft's, and when I was a student, this was the case for my peers as well. Students won't have to download anything and only need to be able to work a browser. Collaboration is easy, but you'll need a good internet connection while you work.
Positive: It works essentially exactly like Powerpoint. Whatever you can do in Powerpoint, you can do in Slides and themed slides you find online for Powerpoint will also work in Slides too. Professionally, I usually went with Powerpoint, but during my college years I preferred Slides because I typically found it easier to use in group projects. You can also easily work in Slides and then switch over to Powerpoint if you need to do some offline work elsewhere.
Negative: Unlike Powerpoint, you'll need an internet connection to keep working. If your connection isn't good, be prepared for a lot of frustration if you don't have another similar program on hand. Like Sheets, I've had some times where it just froze for seemingly no reason, but this didn't happen enough to make it annoying or unusable.

Google Slides - Review Date: Jun 06 2020
Summary: I am using Google Slides from the very start of the product. My main reason to use Google slides was that the desktop presentation application cannot handle large files and crashes so often in case of large data. (+) It is completely free and comes with a 15GB data storage attached to Gmail for the free version where the enterprise version gets 30GB.
(+) Google slides provide very good recommendations for shapes, layouts, designs, and structures.
(+) Multiple collaborators can put comments on the presentation.
(+) One can easily export the presentation as pdf or pptNegative: (-) Editing slides is easy on desktop presentation compared with Google slides

helps me collaborate with my whole company Date: Nov 13 2019
Summary: Overall I'm a huge fan of google slides. Our business used to use powerpoint before I got here and i have transitioned us to google slides and it has saved a ton of back and fourth between design and management. It also made it a lot easier to quickly update and distribute documents without getting lost in old versions.
Positive: The collaboration abilities of google slide are unparalleled. Powerpoint lets me get a little more detailed but it is a nightmare to share decks which is very important when working with a team.
Negative: not as many design features as I would like. could offer some more bells and whistles
