    Summary: Google App Maker isn't a bad choice for introducing folks to the idea of coding. But what it can make, in terms of functionality and aesthetics, is limited, so as long as your expectations aren't too high it should be alright.

    Positive: We used this in our outreach to local school-kids, to help introduce them to if/else statements, loops, and such, and just generally get coding / computer science / app development as an option in their minds!

    Negative: Maybe it's since improved, but when we used it, there was a rather involved process to get the app onto the testing device (phone or tablet), and all in all I'm not fully convinced the young students got much more than entertainment value out of the experience.
