Great but has drawbacks Date: Jul 08 2023
Summary: Overall, I prefer Avid over every other editing software I've tried (I've used Adobe Premier, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro). But, when it gets a "bug", it is nearly impossible to get it fixed, leading to lots of "down time" trying to track down what the problem is
Positive: Keyboard can be used to do most all effects, transitions, & edits with a single keystroke, leading to faster editing. Audio and Video real time scrub with no stutter or hesitation. Bold screen icons on the tool bar are easy to see everything at a glance without having to go into menus to search for needed FX. It can create it's own media so original media can be disconnected. Clean exporting without having to render effects.
Negative: It is very "persnickity" and does not interface with any other tools such as After FX, etc. System requirements are pricey. Too many "bugs" show up from time to time, mostly at the most inopportune time when something stops working for no apparent reason. Usually it can be easily fixed by exiting the program and restarting, or identifying corrupt files. But sometimes, even Avid tech support cannot identify the problem - hence, you're dead in the water
