Summary: Every engineering project needs a version control system. Go for subversion. It is free and can be effortlessly hosted on any custom server.
Positive: - I like the fact that svn does not require much learning, its commands are pretty intuitive and easy to pick up.
Negative: I have absolutely no complaints about any aspect of subversion.

Summary: I think any tech company needs a good version control system to be able to function properly without the fear of losing code and progress. SVN does a great job and that too for free.
Positive: - SVN, unlike Git, is relatively easier to pick up and yet has better features than something like CVS.
Negative: - The updates that SVN receives can really screw up things sometimes.

Basic yet Efficient version control tool Date: Apr 01 2022
Summary: I have used Subversion almost daily for years. It is very simple to use and efficient at what it does. But git completely outshines it with the desktop interface software and useful features like automatic merge resolution.
Positive: Very simple to use.
Quick and easy setup.
Excellent plugins available for integration with IDE's like Eclipse.
Requires little maintenance.
Free.Negative: Interface has become outdated (especially in 2022).

Conflict resolutions need to be done manually.
Git is a better alternative for most cases.
