Summary: After some difficultly learning the APIs, we have used them successfully to do exactly what we needed. The support has also been excellent.
Positive: Very comprehensive set of APIs that allow the developer to create complex applications. The support has also been excellent.
Negative: Because there are so many APIs, it takes a while to fully understand them and how they are used together.

The reference SDK for dealing with PDFs Edited: Dec 19 2022
Summary: My team has been shipping software with the Adobe PDF library for more than 10 years. Our experience has been good.
Positive: A very high quality SDK for all things PDF. As I understand it, it's based on the same code that Adobe products (e.g. Acrobat) use for PDFs, with some additions. That makes it essentially the reference SDK for PDF. The included support can be very helpful.
Can be used with C#, Java, and C++.Negative: It's for-pay closed-source software. Has a bit of a learning curve to get started, at least when used with C++. Probably not a good match for very small projects.
