Description
Manage and oversee all your smart home devices through a centralized web interface. The Web of Things aims to establish a decentralized Internet of Things (IoT) by assigning URLs to connected devices, allowing for easy linking and discovery, while also setting forth a standard data model and protocol to ensure interoperability among them. WebThings serves as an open source realization of the Web of Things concept, featuring the WebThings gateway, WebThings framework, and WebThings cloud. Initially nurtured at Mozilla for four years, the WebThings initiative has since emerged as an autonomous open source project. The WebThings Gateway is a software package designed for smart home gateways, enabling users to manage their smart home directly via the web, eliminating the need for intermediaries. It offers a web-based interface for monitoring and controlling devices, includes a rules engine for automation, and supports an add-ons system for enhanced compatibility with a diverse array of existing smart home devices. By providing these features, WebThings not only simplifies smart home management but also fosters innovation in home automation technologies.
