Sharp Pencil offers a commercial roofing takeoff service enhanced by AI for contractors and estimators. Clients can submit their plan sets and specifications, which the service then evaluates to generate precise measurements for various low-slope roofing systems such as TPO, PVC, EPDM, modified bitumen, and built-up roofs, as well as components like insulation, tapered assemblies, parapets, edge metal, drains, curbs, and penetrations. Each takeoff is meticulously reviewed by a roofing expert before being delivered in a workbook format that not only references the original drawings but also includes a register for open questions (RFI). Typically, customers receive their completed takeoff within 48 hours. In addition to the takeoff, deliverables may encompass a materials order list and a proposal tailored for clients if they provide their pricing information. This service caters to a variety of commercial projects, including new constructions, reroofing, repairs, and mixed-system roofs, while residential projects are not included. The initial takeoff for a live bid is complimentary, with additional takeoffs available on a per-drawing basis or through subscription plans. Description
Vertigraph develops quantity takeoff software used for developing the estimate for commercial construction activities. Most of our customers create the estimate (which is applying costs to the quantities) using Microsoft Excel.
SiteWorx/OS creates 3D models of the existing and proposed site based on elevations obtained from PDF and/or AutoCAD DWG files. The volumes and locations of cuts and fills are calculated from these 3D models. AutoCAD files are also provided that have elevation and positioning data that are used for machine control.
BidScreen XL, our other application, provides simple measuring from PDF and AutoCAD files directly in Excel. The color-coded takeoff is saved with the Excel cell and workbook. No need to flop back and forth between Excel and a different takeoff application. With BidScreen XL everything is done in Excel. Excel functions and formulas provide further calculations to the measurement and Excel also organizes the takeoff and estimate.
