Description
SMATS provides a comprehensive traffic data analytics solution that delivers precise and reliable traffic insights. Our data sources include travel time sensors, radar technology, and crowdsourced information from third parties, all enhanced by sophisticated analytical methods. No matter the objective of your project, SMATS is equipped to assist you in gathering and interpreting the necessary data. The SMATS iNode ™ application is specifically tailored for analyzing and visualizing various metrics such as travel time, speed, traffic counts, vehicle classification, origin-destination relationships, and signal performance measures. By leveraging the analytics capabilities of iNode ™, traffic operations, engineering, and planning teams can effectively manage traffic conditions and enhance the efficiency of transportation systems. The platform also facilitates real-time monitoring of key routes, including those heavily trafficked during morning and evening commutes. Users receive traffic alerts when abnormal patterns are identified, enabling them to pinpoint congestion hotspots within their infrastructure. By analyzing this data, planners can prioritize improvements and better allocate resources to enhance overall traffic flow. Additionally, the insights gained from the application can lead to a more responsive and proactive traffic management strategy.
Description
SCOOT operates as an advanced proactive system that modifies traffic signal settings in real-time to accommodate vehicles approaching intersections. In contrast, alternative systems rely on data from departing traffic, which results in timing changes that are often implemented too late to achieve optimal effectiveness. At the core of SCOOT lies an online traffic simulation model that evaluates a variety of potential timing adjustments in real-time, selecting the most efficient option. Other systems typically make modifications based on set parameter thresholds, such as traffic volumes or the number of arrivals on green, which restricts them to a single potential adjustment without prior effectiveness testing. SCOOT, on the other hand, consistently optimizes cycle length, splits, and offsets with each cycle by executing small, controlled modifications. Many alternative systems opt for larger adjustments on a much longer schedule, sometimes up to every 10 minutes, and some do not even optimize cycle length at all. Consequently, these other systems are significantly less adept at responding to the rapidly fluctuating conditions of traffic. This responsiveness makes SCOOT particularly advantageous in urban environments with dynamic traffic patterns.
