Description
Ordecto offers a web-based platform for checking and fixing PDF accessibility, tailored for agencies, accessibility professionals, and internal document teams. It allows users to modify essential document elements such as tags, reading order, headings, lists, tables, figures, hyperlinks, and form-field labels while also providing suggestions for image descriptions. Users have the ability to assess issues and obtain a corrected PDF along with a validation report, ensuring that the original uploaded document remains untouched. The tool evaluates PDFs according to the PDF/UA-1 and WCAG 2.2 standards, pinpointing areas that may require further human assessment, acknowledging that automated checks should not be seen as an absolute assurance of accessibility. The basic checking service is offered free of charge, while a monthly quota is available for repairs. This product is designed to support teams involved in the creation, remediation, or evaluation of accessible PDFs across various sectors, including government, educational institutions, and the publishing industry, providing a comprehensive solution for diverse workflows. Additionally, Ordecto empowers users to enhance the accessibility of their documents, contributing to a more inclusive digital environment.
Description
PAVE enables users to make their PDF files accessible, ensuring compatibility with popular reading software while preserving the original visual layout of the documents. It is offered free for personal use, allowing for automatic corrections to be applied directly within the platform. Users can also manually implement any additional suggested changes to enhance accessibility. The PDFs will remain on PAVE's server for up to three weeks unless deleted by the user earlier. Although PAVE strives for accuracy, there is a possibility that processing might result in some alterations to the document's content or appearance, making it essential for users to verify the output. The ZHAW disclaims any liability for these changes. Previously, the ICT accessibility lab had developed plugins aimed at converting MS Word and MS PowerPoint files into accessible PDFs, but they did not address the accessibility of existing PDFs—a limitation that PAVE successfully addresses, thus providing a comprehensive solution. This innovation ensures that users can now enhance the accessibility of their previously created documents with ease and efficiency.
