Description
MacTerm serves as a robust alternative to the macOS Terminal, featuring support for 24-bit color, standard graphics protocols, as well as iTerm2 image sequences and color schemes. It stands out among terminal emulators globally by enabling terminal-based applications to utilize up to 8 bits per RGB component, resulting in a total of 24 bits and thus offering a wide array of colors for visual display. The terminal excels in accurately preserving incoming text, ensuring that any copied content, whether sent to the Clipboard, saved to a file, printed, or dragged and dropped, maintains all special characters. Users benefit from a floating command line window that allows for the input of any character type, enhancing flexibility. In the 4.1.0 version, there were restrictions on the Unicode characters that the terminal could display, but these limitations are set to be lifted in the upcoming 5.0 release. Additionally, MacTerm supports Unicode for various elements, including file names, preference collection names, and macros, ensuring compatibility and ease of use across different applications. This makes it not only a powerful tool for developers but also a versatile platform for everyday users seeking advanced terminal functionality.
Description
Terminal Tags is a utility designed for desktop window labeling, catering to individuals who manage multiple terminal or application windows simultaneously. This tool allows users to overlay a colored, labeled tag on a selected window, which can then be accessed via the menu bar or system tray to bring that specific window to the forefront. Users can initiate the tagging process using a global keyboard shortcut, select their desired window, assign a name, and personalize the tag's colors, shapes, and text size according to their preferences. The tagging feature is compatible with various applications, including terminal emulators, text editors, web browsers, and other desktop software. Terminal Tags is available as an installed application on macOS, Windows, and 64-bit Linux systems, though Linux users must be running an X11 session for proper functionality. Each tag remains active as long as its corresponding window is open; however, upon quitting the application or rebooting the system, users will need to reapply tags to their windows. The application stores tag data locally for ease of access. While it reads the geometry of windows and, specifically on macOS, their titles to position the overlays, it does not access any text content within the windows themselves. Additionally, Terminal Tags offers a standalone Pro license available for a one-time fee, alongside a free option for basic window tagging, allowing users to choose the best fit for their needs. This flexibility in options ensures that users can effectively manage their workspace, enhancing productivity.
