Description
Primus serves as the collection management system utilized by over 200 museums and cultural heritage institutions across Norway and Sweden. This system is meticulously designed to protect and organize information regarding collections and their associated objects, along with the various tasks and routines related to them. It is capable of managing both extensive and smaller collections effectively. Additionally, Primus includes features for the registration of diverse object types and caters to a variety of management requirements. When collections are digitized using Primus, they can be swiftly made accessible to the public through DigitaltMuseum, thanks to its integration with that platform. This connection not only streamlines the process but also promotes widespread digital access to numerous collections. Furthermore, it aligns with cultural policy objectives aimed at enhancing the digitization of collections and improving the digital discourse surrounding them. As a result, Primus plays a crucial role in bridging cultural heritage with modern technology.
Description
Introducing the Museum Archive software initiative, which allows museums, historical societies, educational institutions, nonprofits, and various organizations to efficiently manage their collections without depleting their financial resources on expensive database management systems. This project aims to deliver high-quality, cost-free database software to groups operating on tight budgets. The software is available at no charge, and you can assist the museum project by promoting this free resource. Furthermore, I am offering a book that delves into database design, and as a bonus, I am providing a complimentary Premium edition of the software to everyone (since November 2018). Proceeds from the book sales are intended to fund future enhancements to the application, ensuring it continues to meet the needs of its users effectively. By sharing this initiative, you can help empower organizations to preserve and showcase their valuable collections.
