Rockhound, initially known as Smarts, is a versatile software platform crafted for the real-time acquisition of data from multiple digitizer streams, enabling critical data functions essential for end users. Its architecture is modular, allowing each component to connect in various innovative ways, enhancing its adaptability for different implementations. Built using Java, the Rockhound platform is compatible with a range of operating systems, including Microsoft Windows, various versions of Mac OS, and Linux. An optional Software Development Kit is also offered, empowering users to design custom modules that can seamlessly integrate with existing ones provided by Kinemetrics. This development kit allows for the creation of tailored solutions, including specialized functions for post-processing, data storage, notifications, triggering, and filtering, thus significantly expanding the platform’s capabilities.
