Description
DeskSentry is a Windows-based automation tool that observes designated areas on the screen using local optical character recognition (OCR) and executes predefined actions when specific text or events occur. This versatile application can respond to various triggers, including alterations on the screen, changes in files and folders, clipboard activity, running applications, log file updates, hotkey activations, and scheduled tasks. Its actions range from sending alerts to communication platforms like Slack, Discord, Microsoft Teams, or via email, to posting updates through webhooks, launching applications, simulating keystrokes, managing dialog controls, and writing information into SQL databases. The actions dictated by the rules can utilize parameters captured by a trigger, such as recognized text or file names. DeskSentry also logs rule activities and captures screenshots locally while keeping rules and settings stored directly on the Windows machine. Notably, it does not require any user accounts and operates without telemetry or cloud services for executing rules, with the only server interaction being for license verification. This application is designed for use by administrators, quality assurance teams, and laboratory staff who need to automate or monitor Windows applications that lack appropriate APIs, thereby enhancing productivity and efficiency in their workflow.
Description
PyAutoGUI enables Python scripts to manage mouse and keyboard actions, allowing for the automation of user interactions with various applications. Its user-friendly API caters to developers working on Windows, macOS, and Linux, supporting both Python 2 and 3. The library facilitates tasks such as moving the mouse and clicking within application windows, sending keystrokes to complete forms, and taking screenshots while also enabling image recognition to locate specific UI elements on the screen. Additionally, it can identify an application's window to manipulate its size, position, and visibility, although this feature is currently limited to Windows. Users can also create alert and message boxes for communication purposes. For instance, a bot utilizing PyAutoGUI monitors a gaming application for images of sushi orders; upon detecting one, it automatically clicks the corresponding ingredient buttons to assemble the sushi. Furthermore, it interacts with the game's phone feature to order additional ingredients as required, showcasing its capacity for full autonomy in gameplay. This example illustrates the diverse automation capabilities that PyAutoGUI offers to developers.
