Description
BunsenLabs Linux Lithium is a lightweight distribution that features a highly customizable Openbox desktop environment. This operating system serves as a community-driven continuation of the now-defunct CrunchBang Linux project. The latest version is based on Debian 10 and incorporates various configuration and resource packages layered on top of the Debian framework. The management of the underlying Debian system remains unchanged. Users can enjoy a pre-configured Openbox window manager equipped with the tint2 panel, conky system monitor, and jgmenu, which provides an extensive desktop menu. It comes with a collection of visually appealing GTK2/3 themes, wallpapers, and conky configurations, creating a cohesive aesthetic. Additionally, it offers a variety of tools and utilities designed to help users maintain their system efficiently. To enhance the initial user experience, a selection of desktop, multimedia, and hardware-related packages are included by default. The distribution is designed with limitless customization possibilities, allowing users to tailor their environments to their preferences. Furthermore, BunsenLabs provides a combined live-CD and installation media compatible with both Debian amd64 (x86-64) and i386 (i686) architectures for easy setup.
Description
MocaccinoOS is a lightweight, modular Linux meta-distribution focused on delivering a modern, flexible, and recoverable operating system architecture through static package management and layered system design. The project is built around Luet, a fully static Golang-based package manager that uses container technologies and dependency-solving algorithms to manage packages, upgrades, and system layers efficiently. MocaccinoOS offers two distinct variants tailored for different workloads and environments. Mocaccino Micro is a musl-based Linux From Scratch distribution optimized for cloud infrastructure, containers, embedded systems, and minimal server deployments, while Mocaccino Desktop is a Gentoo-based desktop-oriented distribution derived from the former Sabayon Linux branch and designed for desktop users and workstation environments. The platform introduces a layered approach to operating system management, where desktop environments, system packages, and libraries are delivered as installable layers, reducing upgrade complexity and improving system stability. MocaccinoOS emphasizes recoverability through its static package architecture, enabling systems to remain manageable and restorable even during complex updates. The ecosystem also includes Yip, a lightweight cloud-init-style configuration tool used for declarative system configuration and automation, along with declarative user and group management capabilities that simplify infrastructure provisioning and portability across environments.
