Description
Xvisor® is a type-1 hypervisor that is open-source, designed to deliver a monolithic, lightweight, and adaptable virtualization solution. It boasts a high-performance capability while maintaining a low memory footprint for various CPU architectures, including ARMv5, ARMv6, ARMv7a, ARMv7a-ve, ARMv8a, x86_64, RISC-V, and more. Unlike many other ARM hypervisors, it uniquely supports ARM CPUs lacking virtualization extensions. Furthermore, it stands out as the first Type-1 hypervisor for RISC-V, showcasing its innovative approach. The source code of Xvisor is crafted for portability and can be readily adapted to most 32-bit or 64-bit architectures, provided they are equipped with a paged memory management unit (PMMU) and a compatible GNU C compiler (GCC). Xvisor primarily focuses on full virtualization, allowing it to support a diverse array of unmodified guest operating systems, while paravirtualization is an optional feature that can be implemented in an architecture-independent manner, such as through VirtIO PCI/MMIO devices.
