Description
BentStudio serves as an online platform for designing timber and log structures, catering to various projects ranging from small garden sheds and pergolas to larger cabins, workshops, and timber barns.
- Create your design: begin with a choice of timber-frame, post-and-beam, or dovetail log-wall configurations. Adjust measurements, sections, roof shapes, trusses, dormers, and lean-tos while the model reflects your changes in real time.
- Review your project: seamlessly transition between 3D views, floor plans, and elevation sketches. Examine details closely, focusing on joints, notches, supports, and individual components.
- Prepare for construction: save different versions of your project and generate a PDF drawing package complete with timber lists, cutting coordinates, and a modifiable project file.
Accessible through a desktop browser, BentStudio also offers an offline HTML download option. The cost is a one-time payment of CAD $199 for a single Studio license, with no recurring fees involved.
It’s important to note that BentStudio functions solely as a design and layout tool, rather than a structural engineering service. This makes it an ideal choice for creatives looking to bring their timber building visions to life without the complexities of engineering calculations.
Description
CADCraft is a free and open-source application designed for computer-aided design and drafting, enabling users to produce and modify technical drawings with ease. The software features a combination of a command line interface and a visual drawing area, equipped with various tools for handling 2D geometry, managing object snaps, organizing layers, and adjusting properties, dimensions, hatches, blocks, layouts, and plotting. It supports both reading and writing in DXF and DWG formats while also allowing exports to PDF, SVG, and PNG. Users can design floor plans, create mechanical part diagrams, and other two-dimensional visuals, which they can organize into sheets using paper-space layouts and viewports. CADCraft operates as a native desktop application across Windows, macOS, and Linux platforms, in addition to offering a build compatible with WebAssembly for browser use. To facilitate advanced functions, it includes a command-line utility, a JSON control protocol, and a Model Context Protocol server that allows for scripting of drawing, inspection, and rendering tasks. As the project is continuously evolving, users can expect regular updates and new features to enhance their design experience. Overall, CADCraft provides a comprehensive toolset for both amateur and professional designers alike.
