Description
Opal Security is an identity governance and access management platform built for organizations that need to control access across employees, AI agents, applications, infrastructure, and other non-human identities. The platform applies policy and governance controls to access requests, privileged sessions, entitlement reviews, and automated systems from a single layer. Paladin, Opal’s AI decision engine, reviews requests, evaluates policy and risk, explains its reasoning, and can either make a decision or escalate the request to a human reviewer. Just-in-time access capabilities allow organizations to provide temporary privileged permissions only when necessary and automatically revoke them afterward. Opal also uses AI to support access reviews by examining entitlements, weighing available evidence, and recommending whether access should be retained or removed. For AI agents and autonomous systems, the platform can govern what they are allowed to see, access, and execute. Every access change and administrative action can be logged, attributed, searched, and exported to systems such as SIEM platforms or Amazon S3. Opal supports cloud-hosted, self-hosted, virtual machine, and Kubernetes deployment models for organizations with different infrastructure and regulatory requirements. Security capabilities include SOC 2 Type 2 certification, TLS encryption in transit, AWS KMS encryption at rest, vulnerability scanning, penetration testing, and support for US or EU data residency.
